Wyoming and such things

After getting home from Texas and sort of getting things back in order again...we had a trip to Wyoming....yes, Wyoming holds new interest for us and we'll likely get to know the road out there pretty well...good thing Farmer Marv is liking the idea of partial retirement!

So here are a few things from our time there....
First...grandchildren...
...visiting Nolan at school during his lunch hour....

Hannah and Mommy also there as well as little brother but he was busy crawling around!

here is little brother sitting so nice in a chair!
 and with big sister!

Some one put in a request for a blanket....with sharks on it...so here is what Grandma found!

this kept some young boys busy and one girl...sorry it is side ways...I couldn't figure out how to switch it!
We did enjoy the time there...saw lots....and got a little acquainted with the area....sure looking forward to our next visit!   And we are also looking forward to our visit with some other special people...little and big... soon!

This is the second time I've edited this post...hopefully I've got it all this time!  One of my new buddy's in Wyoming...

Mother's Day 2011

We have had Mother's Day for 2011 and it was special to have all our family together...something that doesn't happen often so makes it so much sweeter when it does.  I didn't get all the pictures taken I wanted to but guess that is how it goes sometimes, too.  A friend shared this poem and I want to share it here...I feel it is special...

Poet:  Ann Taylor, sister of Jane Taylor, the author of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Who fed me from her gentle breast,
And hush'd me in her arms to rest,
And on my cheek sweet kisses prest?
My Mother.

When sleep forsook my open eye,
Who was it sung sweet hushaby
And rock'd me that I should not cry?
My Mother.

Who sat and watched my infant head
When sleeping in my cradle bed
And tears of sweet affection shed?
My Mother.

When pain and sickness made me cry,
Who gazed upon my heavy eye,
And wept for fear that I would die?
My Mother.

Who dress'd my dolls in clothes so gay,
And taught me pretty how to play,
And minded all I had to say?
My Mother.

Who taught my infant lips to pray,
And loved God's holy book and day,
And walk in Wisdom's pleasant way?
My Mother.

And can I ever cease to be
Affectionate and kind to thee,
Who was so very kind to me?
My Mother.

Ah no! The thought I cannot bear;
And if God please my life to spare,
I hope I shall reward thy care,
My Mother.

Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
My Mother.

When thou art feeble, old and gray
My healthy arm shall be thy stay,
And I will soothe thy pains away.
My Mother.

And when I see thee hang thy head
'Twill be my turn to watch thy bed,
And tears of sweet affection shed,
My Mother.

For God, who lives above the skies,
Look down with pleased or loving eyes,
If ever I could dare despise,
My Mother.

...and here are some Mothers (and Dads) that have been special through the years....

...and there are many more and so glad for many positive influences that have crossed my way....

Anniversary

This couple recently had their 30th wedding anniversary -- greetings are a little belated but happy anniversary just the same!

Then and......

and now .. with a couple other special people!

Catch Up!

Well it has been a while since posting anything on here so will try and add a little something! Everyone else already has their hunting and Thanksgiving posts up but I'm afraid that is probably where this one will focus!

Shaun's buck - opening morning! Not bad!

Our Thanksgiving on Friday evening - plates loaded - ready to go!

Lefse weekend

Here we are at the 'lefse weekend'. Since I've already gotten inquires as to how it went I thought I better get some pictures posted and maybe even get it done before Sarah does any posting! We also made cut out cookies before the lefse but guess we didn't get any pictures of that - either the making or eating process! We did enjoy the time and there even a few cookies and lefse left over by the end of the weekend.

Here are a couple video clips -- interesting background conversation!

Eating lefse!

Playing some kind of German card game -- the objective? To be the Great Kahoonie and not the Lesser Peon -- or something to that idea. Wonder if things are going well for Sarah??

Riddle

Can any one guess what is going on here??

As you can see we had our workers here, which we thoroughly enjoyed. They didn't get here at all last year because of circumstances so they said they would come twice this year! We are looking forward to the second visit! : )
Tina and Ellen had a little misfortune when they went out for a walk one day. It was cloudy when they left but didn't think too much of that - that was the mistake! Before long it was raining and then pouring rain! Frances and I thought the 'rescue squad' should go out so off I went - not knowing where I was going! I went to all the places I thought they might be but didn't find them so came home thinking maybe I had missed them. But no, they weren't back. About that time I looked out the window and they were just up the road so I set out to get them. They were laughing and declined the ride, needless to say they were thoroughly soaked! So after getting back to the house they set about getting clothes washed and dried. They claimed it was a nice walk and one they would remember!

October 31

I don't know who out there might be looking at this blog with regards to Theo and Sarah's hopes to soon have a little one, so will post a little update. It seemed there was a good possibility they would be soon having a little one but there have been some changes in the situation so that won't be happening for now. Thanks for all your thoughts and care regarding this. Glad we know a Heavenly Father who is a God of all comfort.

Catching up

I didn't realize it has been a month since I posted anything new! I've been taking fall pictures the last few days and hopefully will get some of them posted soon! We have been having nice fall weather although frost last week took the tender things so flowers aren't so pretty anymore! The trees are beautiful but wind is also chasing a lot of the leaves around so woods will likely be rather bare looking soon! We are busy with harvesting corn and soybeans. We also had our convention privileges last month.
Our most exciting news is Theo & Sarah will likely be getting a little girl this month! Needless to say we are all pretty excited about it and wait with anticipation!
